Council-funded home adaptations · Norfolk & Suffolk

We build access for a living. Our website should be accessible too.

For 30 years our family firm has fitted wet rooms, ramps, wider doors and ground-floor extensions so disabled people can stay independent at home. This page is built the same way: clear, calm, and easy to use however you use it.

This page works the way you do

Use the display settings at the top of the page. Your choices are remembered on this device. Nothing else is recorded.

Bigger text

Choose 125% or 150%. The layout reflows so nothing is cut off or needs sideways scrolling.

High contrast

White and yellow on black. Our standard colours already meet the strictest (AAA) contrast level.

Easier reading

Dyslexia-friendly spacing opens up letters, words and lines, and switches to a calmer typeface.

Keyboard first

Press Tab to move through the page. Every control shows a thick, clear outline when it has focus.

What we build

Adaptations that make home work again

Most of our work is funded through Disabled Facilities Grants and specified by an occupational therapist. We also work directly for housing associations and private clients.

Level-access wet rooms

Bath out, level floor in: sloped former, non-slip flooring, thermostatic shower, and space to turn a wheelchair.

Ramps and level thresholds

Gentle, compliant gradients with handrails and landings, plus flush thresholds at front and back doors.

Door widening

Wider openings with new frames, lintels and making good, so wheelchairs and walking frames pass easily.

Stairlift and through-floor lift preparation

Structural openings, trimming, power and making good, co-ordinated with the lift installer.

Ground-floor bedroom and bathroom extensions

When upstairs is no longer an option: design liaison, planning, building control and a full build.

Kitchen adaptations

Height-adjustable worktops and hobs, knee space under sinks, and storage within reach.

Grab rails and hoist-ready structure

Rails fixed into proper backing, and ceilings strengthened for track hoists, with load records kept.

Dropped kerbs and access paths

Firm, even paths from car to door, with lighting and drainage so the route works in all weathers.

Track record

Thirty years of referrals, in numbers

We have never advertised. Almost all of our work comes from occupational therapists, grants officers and families who have used us before.

How referral works

From OT assessment to the last day on site

Five clear steps. You always know who to call, and the client always knows who is coming and when.

  1. Referral

The OT, grants officer or agency sends the specification or schedule of works. We acknowledge within one working day.

    You → us
  2. Survey visit

We visit at a time that suits the household, measure up and talk through the work in plain English.

    Us + the client
  3. Quote and approval

An itemised quote against the schedule, ready for grant approval, with a realistic start date.

    Us → grants team
  4. The build

A named site lead, dust protection, a working toilet every night, and a daily tidy-up. We tell the client each morning what's happening.

    Us, in the home
  5. Handover

We show the client how everything works, leave warranties and manuals, and invite the OT to check the finished work.

    Us + OT + client

"Mum was anxious about builders in the house. The site lead explained each day's work to her over a cup of tea. She has her independence back and can shower on her own again."

Our accessibility statement

We hold this page to the standard we hold our builds

A ramp that is nearly the right gradient is still a barrier. The same is true of a website. We have aimed for WCAG 2.2 level AAA, and we test with a keyboard, a screen reader and at 400% zoom.

If anything on this page does not work for you, please tell us on 01603 000 000 and we will fix it, and give you the information another way in the meantime.

What we have done

  • Text contrast of 7:1 or more throughout
  • Buttons and links at least 48 pixels tall
  • Headings in order, so screen readers can jump between them
  • No information given by colour alone
  • Animation stops if your device asks for less motion
  • Plain English, with no pressure to act quickly
